Title: Engine ground
Post by: BadBatzMaru on June 22, 2004, 03:52:02 PM
I can't remember where I disconnected the engine ground wire from?? can anybody help me out w/ a pic or description? Could I just connect it wherever I wanted (assuming its bare metal?)
Thanks

I need to take a better picture someday, but hopefully this will help:

This was taken with the camera on the right side of the rear shock, looking forward.  The ground wire connection is to the right of center in the photo.

But yeah, I suppose just about anywhere will do.  :dunno:

EDIT: Changed link from sisna.com to bbburma.net

Cool. I was hoping someone had a pic, and I had a feeling that someone would be you, Kerry! Thanks very much.  :thumb:

:o , I can not belive you managed to photo that thing. When hunting down my starting problems I went looking for it and I could barely see it let alone snap a photo.

John, you bring up a good point. What kind of camera do you use for those shots, Kerry? Can you post a picture of the camera?

I think that Kerry has one of those cameras that they use to film the inside of the sinus cavity, or something.  Way to go, Kerry!  You need a custom title, like "a thousand words", or something (maybe "2KBytes", but nobody would get it...)

lol.  Kerry has a Kodak Easyshare 3mp... I actually have the 4mp version of it, recently aquired.  you can get them for $239 w/ free shipping at newegg.com...

But I'll tell ya now, I have no idea how he managed that one, since when we were hunting for it on my bike the other day *he* couldn't see it.  Kerry is just really good with tricky camera angles... gets just enough light in, puts the camera at whatever neccesary angles, and takes however many shots he needs to to get at it.

it's really unbelievable sometimes, 'cause he doen't do anything that looks spectacular or unusual, but still manages to take photos of things I can't manage...  a couple times using *my* camera.   :dunno:

Actually, I took that particular picture with my old 2.1 MP, fixed-focus Fujifilm FinePix 2300 (http://www.steves-digicams.com/2001_reviews/fuji2300.html).

It's been a while since I trotted that photo out, but some of the old-timers have seen it before.  Maybe next time I'll hold that drain hose out of the way....

And it's a funny thing, but since I gave that camera to my art major brother it has taken mostly blurry pictures.  Go figure!  :dunno:

I concur that Kerry is a FREAK with cameras.  Either that or he has a research prototype of the Kodak Spatial Distortion 3000 Special.

I conclude Kerry can operate the manual focus on his camera.

and exploit the LCD finder feature to the fullest.

Oh yeah, here is my current camera (http://www.steves-digicams.com/2002_reviews/dx4330.html).

No manual focus, but the first 2 images on this page (http://www.steves-digicams.com/2002_reviews/DX4330_pg3.html) give some idea of how I am able to "choose" what gets the focus.

Also, for most close-up work you MUST use the "flower" (macro) mode:

Just as a point of reference with Kerry's great pic, that is taken from the bottom of the shock. The engine ground bolt can also be clearly seen from the right side of the bike.

Lol at the 3mp camera nearly ten years later. My parents had one of those and it was a top digital camera for regular consumers when they came out...
