Title: bike leaning to left side!!!
Post by: dkwild69 on June 23, 2004, 06:04:16 AM
Hi all,

I have a 2001 model and the past few months I've been noticing that while riding the bike on a straight road the bike have a slight lean to the left side to keep it going in a straight line, If I tried to straighten up then I would drift right....its almost as if I am out of alignment!!!...I looked at the back tire and notice the wear pattern also correspond to the lean too.  a stripe of wear tend to be more to the left side of the tire...I dont know if anyone else have this same problem and I dont know what is causing it...any thoughts or help is greatly appreciated.

also has anyone perfected the carb re-jet for the 2001 model???  I am thinking of buying the Cobra F1R exhaust and put on the K&N pod.

Lastly, for anyone who NEEDS riding pants I've found an awesome price for a Suzuki HT champion nylon  pant for $40 +shipping.

A steeply crowned road will do that.

yeah the only thing i can think of is what scratch said.  what's your normal lane position, and are your roads pretty crowned?  you might be riding on the outside of the lane on a crowned road, making your bike lean left.  if it were tires your whole bike would be out of whack, so i dunno.

Would having the rear axl out of alignment cause this?  Or would the bike be vertical but "crab" down the road?  Maybe check the adjusters and make sure they are both in the same position.   :dunno:

Or, maybe your sitting on a huge wallet.  :);) (ala George Castanza)

A bunch of us have already jetted our 2001+, but I have a V&H pipe. That will be slightly different than the cobra. I don't have pod filters either. Mine is the K&N straight swap out. Mine is slightly still lean too, so I need to make adjustments also.

Do a search on posts by me - I have posted several times on 2001 and newer rejets.
Title: Sounds like the rear wheel out of align.
Post by: 2Twin on June 23, 2004, 10:22:27 PM
If the bike seems to tip into a left corner easier than right this may be it. If it started doing this after the chain was adljusted it is more than likely. Check to make sure it is aligned properly . Use a ruler to measure from the swing arm to the axle because most if the guides are out by a few mil which can make the difference. Try having the bike on the center stand and spin the wheel while looking from the back of the bike dead along the chain to make sure its path is dead straight.
