Title: NEED info on shipping bike across country
Post by: Cire on June 23, 2004, 07:28:40 AM
Hi All :)
I need some information about shipping a bike from CA to CT.  Anyone know of a decent freight company? or have any recommendations?

Thanks :thumb:

I have a metal shipping frame from an R1. For free! You have to come pick it up though. Details on BayAreaRidersForum.com

Sorry I don't know a shipping company. Do a search on B.A.R.F.

I have shipped long distances... Last year I brought my whole houseful of stuff with 7 odd bikes... The bikes bumped the $$$ by ~1500. But if I was shipping just a bike, I'd have paid big $$$. Cost me 600 to do PA to WA in 93... but I was young and stupid....
I'd sell if and buy one in CT in winter, when they go for a lot less.
Cool.
Srinath.

I have used JC Motors to ship from SC to HI //www.motorcycleshippers.com

I went to a local dealer and got a free factory shipping crate from a GSXR 1K. Added OSB sides & top for protection. The frame looks flimsy but once it is all together it was sturdy. My SV made it to HI without any problems.

Another I know of is Forward Air //www.forwardair.com

haulbikes comes very highly recommended (at least they did to me). I checked into them and their prices were the best. also takes no prep on your part for the bike, just drain the gas.

CA to CT is going to cost you though. I was quoted about $700-$750 (cant remember exactly) for GA to CA...yours will be a bit farther.

jcmotorsports came recommended to me too.
