What are the specs on the GS neck bearings.... and I am looking for somehitng that has a 1mm bigger ID to fit a F2 front end... so where can I get that.
Cool.

try here first...

else ask TKM433 ???? ....he did the F2...RS250 on a RZ350
so, should I gather that you are replacing neck bearings? what makes them go bad? is there some way to prevent it?
I just paid to have the bearings replaced in a '98... I am hoping nothing else was the problem. All I know is that it wouldn't turn until you gave it a good yank and then it would turn TOO much... un-steer-able!
we'll see, eh?
grease probably would have helped you a bunch.....
the factory doesn't use much grease....accelerated wear and rust
also time to LUBE the rear suspension of the bike.
i just ordered new steering stem bearings. Mine's a 96 and had a wicked wobble at 40-50 mpg. I tightened it up a bit and it transferred the wobble to lower speeds and started getting sticky when turned to the left. I figured i had a smashed bearing and when i tightened it down it moved it around the race a bit. Cost me a total of about 30 bucks from ron ayer's I'll take pics when i replace them, should be a pretty simple job (famous last words).

Mine were lubed at 8K and at ~32K with redline synthetic boat trailer wheel bearing grease... they are like new... I have the demented notion I should fit an F2 front end in the GS ... The bearings... 45K and still kicking.
Cool.

OK looks like the OD and heights of the F2 bearings and GS bearings are the same... in fact the 2 have the same lower bearing... upper is 1mm bigger ID in the F2... guess I just bolt it in... F2 stel and triples and fork legs straight into GS frame... The stem has the same ... nearly same height, the F2 is taller but there is enough threads to fit it I think... Any other problems... Might get off my lazy ass and do it soon...
Cool.
