Title: How much would you pay?
Post by: ssheftall on June 25, 2004, 10:31:51 AM
For a 2000 GS with 7000 miles.  Will need mirrors, new tires (tread is fine but they are 4 years old), 7500 mile maintenance/carb clean, neutral light and turn lights are out and need to be replaced and probably a battery.

Guy wants 2000-2100.  I offered 1700.  I think 2000 is too high considering the work that needs to be done.  Any help commentary would be appreciated.

Thanks!

My '00 was recently totaled because some lady decided to run it over with her minivan.  The insurance company gave me $2300.  I had twice as many miles, and slight damage from previous mishaps.  I would say your offer is very fair though, considering the work you will have to do.  Maybe, go up to about $1850?  Blue book on '00 in good shape is $2600-2900 (or at least that's what the insurance company said.

I think 2000 is a fair price considering that blue book is $2500.

Actually, I think the Blue Book on a 00 in mint condition is lower than that.  It's the NADA value that's up in that range.  Most likely your insurance just paid the NADA value.  GS500s consistently sell at higher than blue book, at least in my area.
