Who else on this board lives in southern Ontario? I'm in Guelph, about an hour from Toronto. Maybe we should get a gs ride together.
I am from Toronto and just got my 99 GS less than 48hrs :)
I asked a similar question before and there are 2 or 3 actively post here.
Check! :)
I just bought a 92 GS500 that needs a bit of work, so hopefully I'll be on the road real soon!
Me me me :) 2002 GS500. I'm still riding with my boyfriend in lead at the moment. No solo rides yet.

Cambridge, Ontario
Work in Waterloo.
from Toronto(etobicoke), just bought a new 04 GS500F. Still in the breaking in period
What's the mod on your GS? I need to replace my mirrors.. quite a bit vibration.... anyone did the front fork mod? too much brake dive for me..
I just saw this post. I'm from London. We could do a ride near Mississauga ... seems like there are alot near kitchener too.
Etam:
I have put in the progressive fork springs back two years ago. About a $100. Worth every penny. Those stock springs are a safety hazard IMO.
People at work laugh at me because I guess they think a GS500 is not that cool so they ask me if I'm in a GS500 gang. What would anyone think if they saw a gang of GS500 riders?
Rob
Rob, we need to get together and see how good is the progressive springs!
need to go to CanTire or HomeDepot to see what kind of PVC pipe can work as spacer...
oh.. just saw a blue GS tonight around Hwy7/404... but I was driving my car..
Etam:
There is also another GSTwin'er in London as well. I forget his name but I see him once in a while.
Are you thinking about putting in an extra spacer? Some others have also done this. It should help with initial preload and give a stiffer ride but you will lose some fork travel. This means that if you are braking hard AND going over some bumps at the same time, you could be in for a bumpy ride. Just a thought. It seems to have worked well for others though. If you don't want to fork out the cash for the progressives, it's worth a try. Honestly though, it's like a totally different bike with the progressives!
Rob
Just bought a 2004 GS500F. Newbie rider. I apologize if I don't wave back while riding, just in case I veer off the road.

Welcome to the forum
Welcome to the board. :)
You don't have to take your hand off the bar - you can just lift your first two fingers a bit. We understand that as a wave too. :thumb:

Or a head nod
hey Jen...so how's your GS coming along?...is it running yet??
We're getting the parts together now...tires came in today and the AB stuff came yesterday (to take care of the inner gastank rust. Lots more still on order, so it's gonna be a few weeks before she's road-ready, but she does run now...
Not very well though...likely needs a carb job and the rust in the tank was certainly not good for her. :x
BTW, this was NOT the one that was for sale on the gta board...
If I get back on this season it will probably be on the gs. My Kat is finished.
How you doing, Geoff? Did the surgery go ok?
what tires did you get Jen?...and can your shop give me a good price on them?...pm me on gta if you can...
hope you'll be riding soon...doesn't it bug you to see nice weather pass by?
I got the OEM Bridgestone tires...I'll ask Dave for the deets for ya. He says they soft and gummy like they're fresh off the line. Wicked. Now I just have to get the bike on the road!
Ahh I'm still enjoying the nice weather...took my bicycle out a couple times already. Just not the same, though. ;)
Hi Everyone,
I just registered at this site. Very cool place, everyone seems real helpful and friendly. Anyways, i'm a newbie who just picked up a 99 Gs500 a couple weeks ago.
I'm located in Mississauga (eglinton & hwy10) . . . I've been trying to ride as much as I can. If anyone wants to group with a newbie, give me a shout. :)
-Steve
p.s. I work 9-5, but sometimes i wake up early for a little extra riding ..oh, plus i ride during my lunch break. ahah, i'm obsessed

Welcome to the board ... is this your first bike? I was looking at the F model at Inglis cycle yesterday. They look awesome! I'm sure you'll like it. I've had mine almost 4 years and I still like it.

Frost:
I've found the best tire prices at Zdeno cycle in Kitchener. $133 for a ME330 metzler vs 189 at my local shop. Local shop said they could give me 10% off. I also compared at other places and they are the same.
ronayers.com is only $100 but the shipping and brokerage would be like $40.
Rob
Hey Rob, yeah it's my first bike.^^
I basically live at Inglis now lol.
Zdeno eh?...i'll try them...how mcuh was it for installation??
Quote from: FrostZdeno eh?...i'll try them...how mcuh was it for installation??
Dunno, I am just going to buy it there and get a local shop to put it on. Last time it cost me about $20 ea. with the wheels already off the bike.

I feel compelled to post on this thread even though I am in Marietta, GA. I moved down year about a year ago. I used to live in Mississauga too, on Dundas near Mavis. I only started riding once I got down here. Hopefully I'll get to ride with y'all if I am in Mississauga again
North York here! Bought the bike last season
seems like we have a few here from GTA. If you guys ever decide on a group meet, give me a shout.

Forks of the credit:
check out this link I found on the net:
http://www3.sympatico.ca/elhum/forks.htmI found this image online too:
thanks for the map... I'll have to check it out soon
yeah, i'm not sure how outdated that map is (with cop info)..but my friend told me there are lots of cops on the weekends. there's a cool place called the "badlans" around that area too. It's a place that has red clay hills.. never seen something like that before. A lot of photographers take pictures there, it's quite a site.
Just wondering who else from this ontario group is from toronto. if there is anbody, where do you work? i work downtown(richmond & university) and wondering if you know of a cheap or better yet free parking?
thanks
ps. anybody would like to try this forks of credit run? bike still in the breaking in period so might have to take it slow.
is anyone going to st. thomas dragway this friday the 23rd?
i'm gonna be there with my gs and some other fast gsxr, cbr and zx's
would be fun to race against another gs :)
Fashionably late as usual...
BTW, this cold crap is really pissing me off.
Coming at you from Waterloo, Ontario, with my '00 GS :)
I live in Windsor and own a 2004 gs5oof
I'm from Grimsby (Hamilton Area) and I'm in Kingston, I saw a blue GS500 around campus, is that anyone's here?
which campus?...McMaster?
that's probably mine...
Sorry, I meant Queen's Campus, but if I'm home I'll give you a shout.
As I was saying, dudes - let's do a meet sometime
a meet would be great, 8) i live in toronto so count me in.
04 gsf
anyone wanna race? cheery beach right off lake shore is the perfect spot for some drags. The cops even take people there to beat them....
due to the face that it is so hidden.
please excuse my need to race.... i think the proper term is "I got the need, the need for speed"
i dident buy a bike to drive it like my station wagon.
9000km in half a season, one 10 over speeding ticket and zero drops.
countless close calls of all sorts.
some lady comented to me that i must be verry brave to ride a motorcycle.
very brave or very dumb was my responce.
but the truth is: a little from colum A and a little from colum B with a little from colum luck.
Hi All,
I'm in Hamilton. Just 1200 km on my GS so far - focusing mostly on riding technique and protective gear last year. Just bought a Rocket Meteor Ballistic. Great jacket!! Anyway, happy and safe riding to all and hopefully meet up this season if the winter ever ends.
I'm in hamilton too...we can hook up during summer and go to snake road...
Man...Snake Road is a blast.
I was at Campbellville last year to meet up with one of my friends who happens to roll with the OSR guys. We landed up doing Snake Road (My first time) and I was thoroughly impressed by the road. Snake Road is like an oasis in the middle of a grid work desert.
Markham represent! :)
Just received a notice in my e-mail about this thread. Have not been to GStwin in 3 years! 'bout the same time I gave up the GS. I miss that bike. Currently riding a Katana 750 but now dreaming about re-building a '71 CB450.

i'd be totally down for that :) :) :)... quite a few GS500, E's and F's 'round GTA.
we can maybe meet up it KW? .. group ride thru Dundas, Hamilton, Ridge Road across to Niagra Falls, then Niagra-on-the-Lake?
that would be sick, ive seen one e and a couple fs in town maybe ill find out who they are and invite them here. start planning a route for next year as your closer to that area then i am and ive only been to niagra ont he lake once, and we should hit the falls too.
excellent. :thumb:
I ride regularly with another GS500 and a couple of "F"s. They'd be up for it for sure. Also a whole bunch of others from GTAM.
Will post up a route and a few places for eats enroute. Definitely parade up the Falls to NOTL! :icon_razz: :icon_razz:
