Title: What is your bikes name
Post by: frankieG on June 27, 2004, 04:25:59 AM
so do you name your bikes? i do my tlr1000 is chyna from the wwf.  big mean noisy but secretly everyone wants a ride

for the GS500 i named it GoBo, it is a character from fraggle rocke(80's kids puppet show) and the name of my ferret.  my ferret makes a gook gook gook sound when he is happy and running around....much like the sound of the stock pipe on the gs idling  :dunno:

so what do you name your bike and why  :bs:

Persephone, queen of the underworld (Greek mythology).  Does it really need an explanation?

My bike's name is Lupe. I don't remember exactly why... something about my boyfriend always joking about my (nonexistent) Latin lover named Lupe. Somehow my bike became Lupe. B: What did you do today? Me: I rode Lupe.

Mine is named "Purple" because she's purple  ;)   Do you guys/gals get "emotional" about your bike?  Ya know, like when it goes down or if someone gets too close to it with their car?  It's almost like a child to me.

:guns: Don't ---- with my BIKE.  Maybe I'm over protective or just being a girly girl

I'm a little emotional about my bike. If I get a new bike and sell this one, I'm sure I'll be sad. I'm always a little sad when I sell a car (except one time I had a lemon that I was quite happy to get rid of). But I'm not overly protective of my vehicles. One time I bought a brand new car, and it got rear-ended by a snowplow a month or two later. I was upset for about 5 seconds, and then I was like, "What can you do? That's what happens in Wisconsin in the winter."

Title: name
Post by: dsmirnov83 on June 27, 2004, 06:21:16 PM
A name is born!!!
I have never named a machine before, but today, after reading this and the older threads I will name my bike "Crack" (I heat welded a cracked fender and am really proud of it  )

Just think of it, "I love going to school on crack"

or, "I was on crack the whole night and I don't quite remember what happened, it was all so magical..., but now my butt is sore..."

or, "Sure I'll go to the beach with you honey... by the way do you wana do it on Crack"

Thanks All

Another tiller rider   Hang out at TLP?

Love taking Lil Suzi (GS) & Big Suzi (TLR) for a ride. They would have to be female, 'cause I am not riding a guy. Have not thought of one for my XR yet. I have not riden her enough.

I haven't found a good name for my bike yet. Maybe I should call it vibratron or something like that (see post (http://www.gstwins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9836)) but that really doesnt have much of a ring to it

As far as being attached, let me put it like this: I'm a college student living at home this summer, and I guess my younger brother got blamed for some TP work on someone else's house. He thought that we were going to get hit so I told him that if anyone touched my bike, bad things would happen to him and whoever was responsible (I was more creative than that, but I think the point is clear). My car is worth about 7 x as much as my bike is, but I am usually more worried about her (yes, my bike is a she. are you really suprised?) than my car. logic? we don't need no stinking logic...

I havent given her a name but I do talk to her like I would a dog. You know, "whos a good girl" and "stay" (stops her falling over when Im not around) "theres my big blue baby" when I giver her a pat. Actually, reading that, I think I need to get out more..... :dunno:

I ought a Honda CB750 earlier this spring, and brought it home.  My 3 1/2 year old son pointed to it & said its name was Buster.  He pointed to the GS500 next, and said its name was Brewster.  Nobody knows why, but they're Brewster & Buster.  Sadly, we sold Brewster this weekend.  He tells me I need 3 motorcycles, though.  Wise boy.

Title: The situation...
Post by: The Buddha on June 28, 2004, 07:02:19 AM
Most of my bikes are named after the situation they were bought in. In fact most of them dont have names, but the GS is "gooshie" cos I misread it, the 1000 eli is ellie, the other 1000 is Srikanth's eli... cos my brother gave it to me and his name is srikanth and sometimes I call it the red eli, the 90 I had was blaK-e, the savage I had was sausage, but I call all savages sausage... the nighthawk's typically are called nightmares. The KZ is Kayzee, the vulcan and virago were both vulcan and virago, the ninja was a samurai... Or Sam for short ... cos at that time I also was called sam by people at work, the Kat's were Kat, and the Gixxer is "exare"... cos the fact that its a GS is implied. I am also usually refering to them as piece of crap, lousy shaZam!, bull shaZam!, idiotic shaZam! etc.
Cool.
Srinath.

Dude Fraggle Rock was the show back in the day! I just got a new cell phone and downloaded the Fraggle Rock theme as my ringer...sends me directly back to my childhood every time it rings!

But i digress. Named my bike O-Ren Ishii (villain from Kill Bill v1). Mostly for the fanboy-type emotions that watching Lucy Liu anime-fied and riding my bike tend to produce.

Lately I think my bikes name is Dammit.  This morning for example.  "Dammit, what's wrong with the choke", or Dammit, the headlight is burned out.  Other uses of the name include, "Dammit, why can I not change the oil without spilling it everywhere?"  I also use damn for short and for the possesive context.  Examples, "What gorilla tightend this damn bolt"
