I didn't know what a helmet lock was until today. My buddy took off his helmet and locked it to his CBR. I looked at my GS500 and saw a little piece of plastic where the helmet lock would have been. Is it possible to add one of those to the GS500?
Thank you.

Pop your seat off on the GS there is one tab on each side intended to attach a helmet to each. Your key locks the seat and the helmets on. :)
So there your supposed to be able to lock a helmet on each side? Is that how it works?
I usually slip _both_ D-rings over the metal tab. This makes it a pain to get the helmet off: I usually have to use both hands, which I think is good (makes it harder for someone to pry the seat up and work the D-rings off.
I use the left side, since the right side is a tad too close to the exhast for my comfort. But, yeah, if I had a passenger, I'd use both sides.
One drawback of this Suzi system is that you have to remove the seat every time you ride. This is inconvenient if you have stuff on the rear seat under a cargo net.
Another downside is that if someone knows a GS500, they know where to reach to trip the seat lock without the key. I would never do this, but it is easy to find, esp. if you have a seat lock with no key(MY bike...........).
I would get a lock that mounts to the frame(in some way), or keep the helmet with you...

You guys rock. Thank you very much.

I have this combo lock with a 3ft wire attached to it. (It coils up to almost no size at all). I thread the full face helmet, my tankbag, my tailpack/sadlebag combo into it and lock it to the pasenger peg bracket. Everything stays put.
