Title: bike running too slow
Post by: GRU on June 27, 2004, 07:08:31 PM
i got a problem with my 92....it has been rejetted with 150 mains and 40 pilots....k&n pod filter...exhaust....

well when i get to about 50 or 60 mph the bike loses power...i can't keep the same speed because if i hold the throttle still the bike will slow down a lot....it doesn't matter in what gear i'm in or what rpm i'm at....if i fully open the throttle it will accelerate fast and run good untill i let off the throttle to try to keep that speed, then it will slow down...

i tryed adjusting the air/fuel mixture and no difference....i tried using 1 washer insted of 2 under each needle and nothing better...the float hight is good too

please help

Try using 3 or 4 washers under the needle and see what happens.
If that doesn't work, try the next size smaller main jet.
Title: Steady throttle...

OK Steady throttle issues = lean. Floats are to the level of the top of the bowl?? If so, I suspect for some reason your slide seems to be comming back down, a tiny leak or a bit of seating issue I think. BTW Gru, what are the handlebar collars in your bike made out of. Those pieces that go around the fork leg. Aluminum or steel??.
Cool.

they are steel

i took the carbs apart again and i didn't find any problems so now i'm cleaning them again and i'll see what happens when i put everything back together

yeah, i measured by using the U tube method and the gas came to the gasket seperating the float bowls from the carb

well it's running good on the highway at high speed but now i got another problem

it's slow, it has very little power....before i use to feel good acceleration but now it feels like i lost about 5-10 hp

the carbs are not leaking, fuel lines are good and everything else looks good

could this be a too rich or lean mix? needle too high or low.....i have 2 washers under each needle...should i use more?
Title: How did you fix it...

OK so how did you fix that first problem.
Cool.

i did many things....clean the carbs again with carb cleaner, synch them, new fuel lines, fixed a small fuel leak at the tank mounted petcock, and cleaned/oiled filter

o yeah, i checked the float hights....left carb is about 1/8 of and inch too low and the right is 1/8 too high
Title: Bloody hell...
Post by: The Buddha on June 29, 2004, 01:28:33 PM
Bloody hell.... 1/8 inch.... massive difference... If you are off by 1mm between the 2 you'll probably notice... 2 mm and you will not want to ride it... you have them off 6mm (I am talking height difference between the 2) and your bike just looses power... I'd thank the starts it even runs. set them both to the level of the gasket, and they both should be equal... under 1mm off.
Cool.
