Title: how to remove the mirrors ?
Post by: hehehemann on June 28, 2004, 02:35:20 PM
i tried taking off my mirrors today but couldn't.
do i need to unscrew the lower bolts that attach the mirror stand to the brake and clutch?
I tried to unscrew the top nut where the stem goes, it loosened a little and I could move the stem but then as I unloosened more it gets tight again.
It started to pour down rain at this point so i ran inside and thought I'd ask you guys instead.

Thanks.

Sounds like you're on the right track.  The collar nut or lock nut screws down against the brake/clutch lever bracket to hold it tight.  Unscrew this nut a little and the mirror stand should then unscrew from the brake/clutch bracket.  It may be getting tight again because the stand is now free and can lean and cause it to seem tight in the threads.
I don't have any pictures but In know it's all counter clockwise to loosen.
