Title: GS500 vs Mercedes Benz SL
Post by: cajrovd on June 29, 2004, 10:22:00 AM
I finally reached 500 mile mark, brought my bike in for the breakin service and for the first time have been going above 5k rpms. So for the past couple of days I've been experimenting with speed, acceleration, and their addictive qualities.

Well today on the way to work this brand new MB SL goes out of his way to pull up beside me at the stoplight. I'm saying to myself, ok this guys going to smoke me. I've been getting used to being passed by mini-van soccer moms (while staying under 5k rpms), so I wasn't too sure how fast my GS500 could really go. I've also been kinda afraid of doing an instant wheelie. Anyways, the SL keeps inching forward and I pretend to ignore him, just in case I stall the bike end up totally embarrassed. Well the light turned green, I turned the throttle, and the bike ripped off the line like a banshee. Needless to say I OWNED the SL! I was so suprised about how quick it was off the line, I almost forget to shift into 2nd! Thankfully there was another stoplight a little further ahead with traffic so I didn't have to face the wrath of the SL in a higher speed race, but it was so nice to finally push the GS to it's potential and see what it could do.

The zone above 5,000 rpms - a scary but wonderful place.  :thumb:
