Just received the August 2004 edition of Rider magazine. Low and bebold a full review of the GS500F. They really liked it, saying it's a decent tourer as well as a sporty bike.
Pick up a copy and check it out. Nice to see our beloved GS500's in mainstream media!
Yea must be flavor of the month. Then they start trashing it again in a comparo with a R6, an 600RR and a GSXR 600. idiot magazine weenies.
Cool.

Your joking right. That's like comparing a Corolla against a BMW and Mercedes. :o
I'd take the Corolla anyday. Better fuel economy, less expensive to insure and repair...
I don't know which review you're reading, but the one I read does not mention any other bikes. It's a fair and honest review in which that they say it's an awesome bike for the money, and a great compromise between sport, comfort, and long-distance cruiser for those that don't want to spend a whole lot.
No where in the article do they compare it to anything else. They mention that it doesn't have the power of a 600cc sport bike, but not in a negative way. Maybe there's another article in the mag that I haven't read yet, but the one I read was quite positive.
Its a hypothetical... preemptive strike against the magazine weenies.
Cool.

I thought the article was pretty good too. It almost looked as though they had been visiting GSTwins before they picked up the bike for the test. They even mention the same shifting problem that I have noticed on my '99.
I've always considered Rider as one of the more objective magazines when they perform an evaluation. They're run by older folks, and are past that "flavor of the month" philosophy that produces unreasonable biases in other mags. I don't buy it, but will give it a respectful once-over while at the local Books-A-Million.
