My GS500 has always had problems after running about 2 gallons of fuel out of the tank, it acts as though its out of fuel. If I switch to reserve it doesn't seem to help, not sure about prime, haven't ridden it enough to see if that fixes it.
As soon as I fill it up, it runs fine.
Any ideas here? I'm fairly certain the fuel lines are run correctly. (ie reserve and primary are not reversed.. ) The vac line is hooked up. Possibly a petcock problem?
One thing I do notice when this occurs is bubbles in the fuel lines.. not sure if that is from me switching to prime and to reserve or what?
Any ideas here? It does this consistently.. fill up with gas, and its fine. But only running 2 gallons seems a little low to me.
http://www.gstwins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=82770&highlight=#82770 I had the same problem... and even though I thought I had checked and double checked the fuel lines, i discovered that I did indeed have reversed lines going into the tank... read my post, and use those diagrams that Kerry gave me... (THANKS KERRY)... my problem was fixed after that
Could be a fine crack in a fuel line anywhere, possibly in conjunction with a clogged up fule filter in teh tank. As long as you have sufficient head pressure, nothing happens. Once the fuel level has droppped enough and the resistance of the fuel filter increases (clogged up only in the lower part?) It starts to draw air.
Come to think of that, it could also draw air through the upper part of the fuel filter if the lower is clogged and fuel level drops enough.
