Well I went on my first group ride today and it was alot of fun.
Went out to Brookville, Indiana with 5 others. I was the only newbie.
Everything went well almost all the other riders were patient with me especially going down the steep hills. Otherwise I hung with the pack handled the curves well.
We did about 150 miles today, and man is my Arse hurtin.
I was the only one with full gear, everyone else was full fledge sguidly, t-shirts, shorts ,sneakers and only one other wore a helmet. They all made a few jokes, but as long as I felt safe I didnt care. It was a little hot but I feel better riding with my gear on.
I didnt realize how much energy it drains out of you going on long rides.
I cant wait to do another

Group rides are fun...just don't let them pressure you to do more than you "know" you are capable of. That's where most problems are born.
About the gear. Let them laugh. When one of those guys lose it through a ditch, you'll be the one laughing, assuming they're not hurt too badly.

It's kinda like getting back on a 10-speed (sorry; 27-speed?) after you haven't ridden for a few months/years. That first week HURTS! But you get used to it.

That's the spirit! :thumb:
I did a 5.5 hour mountain ride and I thought I was gonna die. I'm a 3 hour man myself. Any more really requires a long break.
Glad you had fun on your ride! :thumb:

I can ponder that maybe the women in you icon is your wife/girl firend/signifigant other?
it's a pic of the wife, if I am not mistaken.
hahahaha.........150 miles. that's a pre breakfast ride to me. just wait untill you do your first 1000 mile day.
Yep, that's Anne, "Annie Bananie", the inspiration for the GStwin.com phenomenon.
If you've ever been to the Wall of Fame, her picture graces the lead-in for both sections of photos.
