You got a good deal on those items. Now what will you do with them?
haha try to makew them fit a gs500
sweet... I've been wanting to see someone try this. If it works out good for you'll I will be trying it next. Keep us informed :thumb:
I recall seeing a psot a while back where someone has done it.
I remember they had to move the turn sigs up a bit
yeah... if it does il be making a contribution to a how to section
im trying to find a windshield for it
if i cant fint one no big deal i dont need one to ride
im use to riding "naked" anywasys
i can alwasy get new turn signal
Looks like a good deal on them. There is not a pic of the back of the headlight. Does it come with the bulbs and mounting boots?
There is also a small running light that goes above the headlight. If you want one I still have one you can have.
Also, do not forget a windscreen.
I will try to set up a mock-up of my sv fairings when I go home for lunch.
"All mounting tabs and everything are in great shape"
it says tht in the website thing explanation
so yes it does come with all moutning things im guessing
how much do u want for tht light??
and how bout a windscreen?
go one?

Not really what I am refering to. Has to do with the light bulbs plugs and the rubber boots that hold them in. I think he is referencing the actually mounting points for the whole assembly. I will take a pic of the back of the light which should help.

You can have the light for shipping.
Stock windshield $20 + shipping
Also, I thought that there are other fairing pieces that go up front as well. I will be back with pics shortly.
yeah i know what pesice ur talking about i think
all i want is the front front one
do u think i need the other pecices as well to put it on???
or do u htink this will work
tht offer sounds great about windhsiled and light bu can i wait till i get it to see if it fits?
im going to pick it up so he said front fairing if it isnt all there someone tell me i wont buy it
also if the headlight all there
i wont6 buy tht eighter
he never said " missing parts"
There are 2 sides that go with the front fairing. You can use the center front fairing as is. It will have a streetfighter look.
Here are some links to pics with the SVS fairing sitting on my bike. I could not take any front pics since I cannot move the bike away from the wall right now (swingarm is off).

Here is the back of the head light. These are the rubber boots that I am referring to:

BTW...I think I am going to hold onto the windshield for now. I have an idea for a project bike. You could easily get one from someone on //www.svrider.com. Also, I looked for the center light and could not find it. I will look more in depth later tonight. I may have given it away.
yo tht looks incredible
im so happy now i bought this stuff
skidmarx fairing will be for sale by next weekend
That bike looks familiar somehow... :P
I tried the SV full fairing when they first came out, but it didn't fit properly.
how so... i dont have the full fairing
just upper front
what went wrong with urs?
It was too wide where the fairing sides would touch the frame. There was at least 2 inches on each side. To make it fit would have required either cutting out a middle section or squeezing the sides in which would have made the windscreen impossible to fit.
This was an aftermarket carbon fiber copy of the fairing though. I never tried an OEM SV upper...

It always seems to come back to haunt you. :nana:
As for the oem SVS fairing fitting...Some triming may be required for a better fit. But just from me sitting it on the bike (pretty close to where it would actually be), I looks like a good fit. A front fairing stay would need to be made along with side brackets. The side brackets may have to be 3-4" long but then that is not much more then the brackets that are there now. Even the brackets that came from Cheetah when I put their fairings on my SV where about 4" long. The clip-ons are the only major issue that I see. Cutting back the fairing would solve this. But standard handle bars may not have this problem, unless they are too high. I will play with it a little more tonight.
what the f%$k is fairing stay???
can u show me how you are goinng make urs so i can have a good idea
i wont get mine until sunday
u can help me out! :)
A fairing stay is the part that holds up the upper part of the fairing. Usually mounted where the mirrors are and to the frame at the head. Some times they go over the handle bars like on the TL. This is what a stock SVS stay looks like:

The SVS also holds the gauges. Race bike stays are as minimal as possible. Here is a pic of my old race SV. The stay is the silver part coming from behind the tach.

I have not decide how I will make one for the SVS fairings yet.
Almost forgot, I kind of have a pic of the stay on my GS. Makes a great paper towel holder. Real basic. Just 2 pieces of bent tubing. A bracket was welded to the steering head and the stay is bolted to it.

nice... kinda hard to see... im going to have to make my own to
but my friend has a welder so i can make whatever
if u can... keep me updated on how ur going to do it so i can have ideas when i get the fairing
if i think of nething ( not likly) ill fill in
I will take a better pic of my GS stay later. It is late and I have had a little too much to drink to wander out to my shop tonight.
haha i understand... i cant fall asleep!!!
i want to think of everything be4 i get it so it will work!!
one last question
u can awsner tommorow
how am i going to keep th eheadlgiht attached without dropping down
does the brakets it come with attach somehwrere to the gs500 so we dont need to make anything???
With the SVS, the headlight mounts to the stay. On my TLR, the headlight mounts to the fairing. Either way will work. It depends on how you make the stay. Since the SVS fairing does not have mounting points for the headlight, then mounting to the stay would be ther easiest.
do u think i will be able to make a stay??
or should i buy one??
The ability to make one depends on your resources (welder, tubing, saws, drill, etc) and creativity. Buying and modifying an existing one would be the easiest.
If you are going to buy one, try //www.wera.com. There should be plenty of racers selling off their street stuff, sometimes cheap. Fits 97-02 SVS. Not sure the difference in the 03+ since they changed the fairings.
well im going to go for custom made... cant be tht hard like serously!
where would i attatch it though to the bike??
where does the fairing stay atttatch to?
The stay would attach to the bike at the steering head. I will try to remember to take a pic of mine tomorrow. The stay normally attaches where the mirrors bolt on. This forms a solid base for the mirrors. In your case, it really does not matter. The further apart the better. There are also 2 mounting points on the underside of the fairing (above the fender and in front of the forks).
btw...I found the little center light that goes in the fairing above the headlight and the wire harness connection.
ok got my fairing and healight today
now the next step im thinking be4 i start this project... how am i going to convert the wiring so it spreads out into two wires so both sides of headlight work??
tht mini relfector thing would be much apreciated
adress is 357 green hill rd
