Title: GS500 becomes a 250
Post by: cernunos on July 07, 2004, 07:07:07 PM
When I started up the little White Owl today she was reluctant to run on both cylinders. In essence she was a 250. Fouled plug no doubt. So I pulled the lead off the non-firing plug and inched it closer to the plug until it started firing again. I know that most people remember this trick but I just though I'd mention it in case any other people foul a plug and think they have to pull it to clear it. Nine out of ten times this will clear the plug up. Pulling the plug wire away a little bit increase the resistance to the point that the voltage goes very high and fires the plug. If I keep taking these short rides I guess I should look at putting in a set of hotter plugs. Oh how I love this little GS and the forum too. Don't you?

Last time I did my plugs I bought NGK's from Cycle Gear.  Haven't ever had a problem with them  :thumb:

How long do you leave the choke on or what rpm are you cruising at?  I remember you saying you have quite a bit of previous experience riding so try not to take offense :)   ...I'm just trying to figure out what would be a cause for the fouling
