Since my bike is going nowhere until the new tires come in, I did the shortened signal mod on the rear. Should I do the front also? Anybody else done the fronts? Your thoughts?
i have not done the front signals for this reason only. i want people to be able to see me when i am comming at them. case in point....car making a left turn and not pulling out in front of me.
I did mine. You can see them on the Wall of Fame here:

we did the rear ones on my girlsfriends bike, but i'm hesitant to do the rears, we always ride with our highbeams on in the daytime, and the stock signals are just enough to be seen over the headlights, and she's asked about shortening them a few times now, but i'm pretty sure if we move them in any farther, no one will see them, the front ones don't look nearly as bad either, so i wouldn't worry about them, but if you really wanna get smaller ones, my only recommendation, is to move the turnsignals, mount then on the front of the frame, or lower down on the forks or something like that,
You can always test out the shortened rear ones by swapping them with the front ones to see if you can still see them over the headlamp.
That's a good idea scratch, I may try that. Thanks for the replies guys.
personally i think rear turn signals are more important than front. the person in front of you really doesn't need to know you're turning, for example:
you're at an intersection taking a right, the person across from you doesn't know what you're doing, so they assume you're going straight: you're still safe taking a right.
you're at the same intersection, but taking a left, and the person across from you doesn't know what you're doing, so they assume you're going straight: you're still ok, because you should give them right-of-way anyway when crossing their lane.
so really, rears are what you need, so people behind you know why you're breaking, and what you're doing. the fronts are just for convienance, but not as necessary in my opinion.
