Title: valves
Post by: bball14 on July 09, 2004, 07:56:34 PM
my valves are "ticking" somewhat and i am wondering if there is anythign that i could be looking for that could be wrong or that i can do to stop it.  My mechanic is pretty good and he says taht he thinks it is normal noise from and air cooled motor..is this correct? if so how can i stop it or can I.  i mainly notice it at low rpm's but that may just be because i cant hear it when the engine revvs.  any suggestions??

I'm sure others will chime in here.  I think it's normal.  I can hear my valves ticking away at idle.  I just checked the valve clearance and they are within spec.  Sound like there's nothing to worry about if your mechanic thinks its OK too.

Ticking is good - it means you have clearance.
