Since I had all the covers off the bike after checking my valve clearance, I decided to test fit a Honda F4 tailight (which I bought previously) on the tail.

I also did a minor fenderectomy, I think that I got a good balance which makes the tail look a little like a shark fin.
Also, I left off the grab rail as it leaves a sleeker look IMO. I need to make up a couple of covers to cover up the holes left by the grab rail.

Right now the tailight is just ziptied in. I will have to make up a bracket or something to make it permanent. Note that the tailight is not a direct fit so if you'd like to do this mod be prepared for alot of messing around. If you cut the mounting posts on the tailight at an angle that matches how you want it to sit, it will rest againts the existing bracket on the frame but U will have to still secure it somehow. Also, even though the existing bulb socket will fit in the F4 tailight, I had to put some RTV silicone on them so they would not come loose.
What does it look like from directly behind?

like this ...
looks real nice, i finally got that R1 solo tail on heathers gs, so i'll have pictures of that in a week or so, it's on there, not finalized, and the whole bike still needs painted, but i'm just waiting for the r6 tail light in the mail before i can put it all together perfect, it does look nice though, it shouldn't be too hard to make little covers for those holes, you could probably even buy some aluminum, and cut it so it covers the holes, and has a little tab that bends in, and bolts onto where the grab rail used to, maybe make some to fill in the holes from where the old tail light was too in the upper corners
you could just flip the stock one over and it follows the lines alot better. i did it to mine and it looks good. not to mention, it fits the hole.
that was the plan, but i got a good deal on the r6 one, so it should tuck up nice in there,
do you have any pictures of your bike? it'd be nice to compair what other people thought of compaired to what i came up with

Thanks for the idea on how to attach the covers. :thumb:
