Title: Choppy throttle??
Post by: patricia on July 12, 2004, 05:28:34 PM
Is it just my clutch cable or maybe me :dunno: but when I take off from a stop, it isn't smooth and I have been riding long enough that it shouldn't be me.  It's kinda choppy or jerky.  No matter what I do, it's the same.  B/F says I probably need a new cable but I thought I would ask you guys too since you ride the same kind I do.

Do the obvious first, lubricate the cable, blast it through with WD40 or similar and realy give it a good workout.

You didn't say whether you have tried to adjust the clutch cable yet.  It sounds like it may need it.

See the Adjusting the clutch cable (http://www.gstwins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8375) thread for a "mini How To".  You want about 10-15mm of freeplay as measured out at the ball end of the lever.
