has anyone out there tried clip-ons on there gs500f, how did it work out? i know the forks are 35mm i just wasnt sure about the fairing clearanceanf if the clip-ons would be to lowand hit.
the forks on a E are 37mm...i think the F has the same size forks :dunno:
maybe it was 37 ill have to go double check.
yeah, supposed to be 37, there's a few people on here who've had the clipons that came with the 89' gs, and GRU has clipons on his bike, i'm waiting for srinath to make some and then i'm gonna jump on those, but the front end is defiantely way too light, so the clipons should help with confidence a ton
post a pic of clipons on a gs
i've posted pics before
if you didn't see them, here....

also had 37mm real clip-ons
vortex makes clip-on that fit the forks i just wanted to know if the bars would hit the fairng cause it is closer to the tank than most other bikes.
hmm.....honestly, my best suggestion, is to duct tape a stick or ruler or something to the top clamp the angle the bar would be, and turn the front end back and forth and see if it hits,
How do the clip on's attach to the forks? Do you have to raise the forks through the triple clamps to allow for the clip on's to fit? How does this affect handling/suspension geometry? Does the new riding position kill your back?
well, i ordered the vortex clip-ons today they'll be in in a few days and ill let you know how they fit on an 04' and try to post a pics
yeah, you have to lower the front a little.....after that the riding position will be different because of the handlebars being lower and because now the bike 's nose is lower too....handling, i didn't notice anything bad about the handling but it does hurt my hands a little on long rides
So here in Aus the clip ons are quite common. I traded mine for a set of the one you all have so I could put on moto x bars. Anyway I have to go to the wreckers next week to get some bits and will ask if there are any clip ons there. Bars, top triple tree and raisers are all needed. If they have any there what is a reasonable price for them to pay and then I can see how many I can get and ship over there to who wants them. No guarantees they have any but I might as well check.
What is a clip on :dunno:
