so i turn the key, everything works. i pull in the clutch, open up the choke, put the bike in the run position, hit the starter, and nothing happens. what're the toggles to make this a dead button. the bike is in neutral. i've tried with the stand up and down. i don't know what's toggling the bike to not let the starter function.
Sounds a lot like the problem in the CCCrrraaassshh!!Dead starter? (http://www.gstwins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9790) thread.
unfortunatly i'm a 96 owner and we don't have those little plugs. fortunatly, i still made due and got the screwdriver crossing the circuit. unfortunatly it didn't remedy my problem. sparks definatly jumped across the screwdriver bridge, and still nothing happened. thanks for the idea tho. i'm getting pretty pissed at this piece of shaZam! bike.
props to MagLite's. i tried to break one and i couldn't. i'm so frustrated. i want to hunt down the dis-honest pile of shaZam! that passed off this bike as "great" condition and break every bone from his knee down.
so some guys here at work think i could just have a bad ground. here are my symptoms:
lights work (all of them. blinker, oil, etc). clutch engaged, kick stand up, on/off switch in the on position... starter button does nothing. i did the trick kerry suggested, but still nothing. when i hit the starter button, sparks jumped across the contacts for the clutch, so i know the bike at least recognizes the starter button...
i don't want to tear the wires all out, cause i wouldn't know where to start. plus i lost the little spring that goes in the small brass contact piece in the clutch. i'm gonna take a couple springs from work, cut them to size, and hope one works. basically i'm hosed.
anyways, anyone have any other ideas? where could my ground have gone bad? any suggestions would be so appriciated.
thanks in advance.

Me too. Except the @$$hole was from this board. He stripped all kinds of screws, ghetto rigged everything, jacked the carbs up, didn't put the air box on right, or the rings that tighten it to the carbs, used elcheapo tires, messed with the mixture screws, cut off a good V & H pipe for a CBR pipe thats fugly, and sounds bad. The list goes on and on.

Look up my 6th post ( ) in the
bike won't start!!! thread.
Maybe you will find something right at the starter relay or its connections.
