Title: simple things that make a big difference (Chain adjustment)
Post by: jag69 on July 17, 2004, 08:54:32 AM
If you haven't inspected your drive chain slack ....... DO IT!  It makes a big difference.  I just adjusted my chain this morning and the difference in smoothness is incredible.  I will need to buy a new chain and sprockets soon.  Can anyone list the pros and cons of moving to a 15T front sprocket.

Thanks

Pro:  Drops the powerband a little to make some more useable power in the midrange

Con:  higher RPMs on the highway.

Proper chain tension can make a big difference to how smooth and easy the gear change is.

Yeah, when I put my wheels back on after the tire change, gear changes do seem a lot smoother and no jerking at all now.  I guess it was too loose before.
