Title: Bought an 89 front end!!!
Post by: Dragonfly on July 17, 2004, 08:44:27 PM
I just picked up an entire front end off of an 89!
Cost me $350 shipped.

There arent any modifications that I am going to have to make to get this to work is there.

I am so excited about having clip ons.
How much lower is this going to put my riding position?

i don't think it's gonna make a big difference.....i could never compare since i don't see any '89 gs's around

did you buy '89 forks just because you want clip-ons?

aftermarket clip-ons normally cost about 120 bucks :(
used 89 GS upper tripple is all you needed....not the complete front end :(

If you had read me earlier thread titled; Teaching squids to ride....

You will know that my front forks are bent and so is my wheel.
So since I am not the one flippin the bill I got the entire front end for less than the price of a new front wheel.

The seating position is not extreme at all. Perfect for on the highway, but also perfect for in the city. The bike is narrower wich is easy for lanesplitting.

$350 shipped isn't bad for a entire front end if its in good shape and all you have to do is bolt it on.

I am piece by piece trying to turn it into a track bike, so it will be VERY nice having the extra parts around.
Everything is there -the front brake calliper, and master cylander.
I am going to rebuild the forks and install the progressive springs that I already have, so the bike should be better than ever.

Hey that's the Euro clip on's... the US clip on's are lower... much lower. hands level with the top triple...
