Title: Upgrade question
Post by: Stefan on July 18, 2004, 07:44:44 AM
Hi all

I just bought my GS500K3 this year. Im about the reach the 600 miles mark, and im gonna get the full service check, from a certified Suzuki dealer.

Now to my question..

I wanna upgrade it to a GS500FK4 (the one with full windscreen 2004 model).

Is that possible ?

Where do I order the parts ?

Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, you can only buy those kits from that website. They are pretty new to so no feedback on them yet except they look super cool.

I don't think you can have your bike retro-fitted with the F body by the dealer.  For one thing the new bikes have a lug on the steering head for mounting an upper bracket.  You would have to fabricate something similar on your bike and that would require either welding or making something like the one I use on my race fairing.  I'm sure you could order all the parts and then figure a way to mount them, but thats alot of work that I doubt you could get a dealer or shop to do for less than it would cost to just buy an F model.

Not to make any more promises, as I already have fairing projects up to my eyeballs...
But one thing I am considering doing when I sell my YZF is to buy a new F to play with and copy the fairing and both modify it for racing, and also build a retrofit kit.
Someday I will.................................................

Sounds like a cool plan JamesG, I think you should start tomorrow   ;)

The only thing im not sure I like, is the blue glass in the windshield, But I guess that can be changed, one way or another.
