Title: Tire wear and alignment
Post by: Briggs on July 18, 2004, 10:16:47 AM
My question is if my rear tire inproperly aligned (strait) with the front tire, will it cause my rear to wear  faster? I am thinking it will not, but am still curious to what other have to say.

shaZam!, I was wondering the same thing and I'll tell you why: When I was adjusting the slack on my chain awhile back, somehow I had one side that got off about 2-3 notches and didn't notice. Anyway, after a week of riding I noticed it and corrected it. Now, when the bike was out in the bright sunlight I noticed more perceptible grooves reflecting off my rear disc. :?  I rubbed it and sonofabitch, there were very slight grooves worn smoothly into the disc. Slight, but you could feel them by rubbing your finger over it. Anyway, the bike brakes fine, that slight wear didnt seem to significantly affect the disc, but damn, that was only after about a 50 miles or so of riding!
