Title: Valve Adjustment - noise
Post by: soso3 on July 20, 2004, 07:25:18 AM
Quick question:

Can one tell by the sound if the valves need to be adjusted?  My (friend's) bike seems louder, but I haven't ridden it in awhile.  It has 5900 miles on it.

Thanks!

P.S. I just ordered the Clymer manual today.  :thumb:

Yes, but I'd have to hear it in person. And since you're in Ohio maybe someone around there can listen to it? Or, take it to a motorcycle mechanic.

Valves should be checked every 4000 miles.

Yes, I saw that the schedule says the valves should be checked every 4000 miles.     I can barely get the owner to change his oil on time.  :nono:   Once my manual shows up I'll get in there to check.
