Today is Ride To Work Day - and my poor bike is still in pieces :(
http://www.ridetowork.org/
... no riding to work for me until next week at the earliest... *sob*
Who here took their bike to work today???
i did
I completely forgot about it.
Go out of town for the night and lose track of time.
Seeing as how I mostly work from home these days, I can't really ride to work.
I'll take a ride just for the fun of it?
If that doesn't count, then it's up to the rest of you to cover for me.
I too work at home... kind of sad when I could be riding the bike to work...
So in participation of the ride to work day I rode to the nearest doughnut shop for a few holes :P which is 10 miles each way. And since I was out I took the scenic route which added another few miles. :)
I hope to get in a longer ride after work. :thumb:

i had my bike warming up in the driveway, intending on riding it, but i decided against it. too many things could go wrong. i've just recently been messing with the air-fuel ratio, and the idle speed was around 1800, so i decided i'd wait a few more days and troubleshoot more.

I hope they were krispy kremes !!!!!!
I also rode in this morning...more than normal amount of bikes parked in the motorcycle area...it was good to see...who knows if it was because of the day, or just coincidence, but good for everyone! :thumb:
I rode to work today, but then I almost always ride To Work & Back (http://www.bbburma.net/MiscFotos/100_0322_LogBook_ToWorkAndBack.jpg)!

Oh my god, you keep a detailed log book of ALL your rides????
I have a hard enough time remembering to keep my scuba diving log book up to date... :o
I can usually walk to work in 15 minutes. Occasionally, as i did today, i will get up early, leave early and ride streets and roads i know will not be affected by rush hour for awhile before heading to work.
I'm on vacation. Eat your hearts out. Getting up 5:30 am Thursday. Should be able to do 300 miles. Leaving at 6:00 am and back to 12:00 noon. Gotta spend a little time with the family. I never know where I'm going. Have been heading north lately. I'll probably try northwest.
Wow Kerry you're so well organized, it's kind of scary :P

Hey try east... depending on where in Jersey... it could get very interesting after 0 - 70-80 miles....
Cool.
Srinath.
I rode today, but I'll ride everyday that I can. 55 Miles one way to work and I love it.
I work at the Vancouver Aquarium (http://www.vanaqua.org/) in Stanley Park, and live on the other side of downtown Vancouver.
This is my ride to work:

When it's nice out, I usually "miss" my turn off on the one way road around the park, and take the nice scenic route all the way around along the water.
It's sooo beautiful! (http://www.meighan.com/bike/vancouver-aerial.jpg) Really hard to actually make myself go into the office on nice days. Even though I adore my job, there are some days where I'd just rather be out riding! ;)
Maybe I should just leave work and go for a ride. No one is here anyway.

Wow Meighan, that is a beautiful place... Its cool that you work in a aquarium too. I'm alittle jealous... I love the water even more than riding. (hince the avatar) However I ride to work everyday and today was no exception. :thumb:
I rode! I rode!
I ride to work whenever the forecast is good. ~36 mile round trip. 3 for 3 so far this week.
jeff
I rode.
Rain or shine.
I'm begining to prefer riding in the rain...
Yup, I rode too. But I almost always ride. I notice that today there are a few extra bikes parked next to mine, guess everyone on campus with a bike got into the act. :)

East does not work on a work day, even on a summer weekend it' a drag. 26 miles and I'm in Manhattan. To get to the other side of NYC is a pain. Afterwards it's Long Island. Long Island Expressway is the worlds longest parking lot.
East is good in the Fall.
I was talking to my neighbor and he commutes to work on a bicycle everyday. He even rides in the winter. Last month he did 1,400 miles on his bike. Most of it to work. It's 48 miles round trip and he works a lot of weekends. He just had his hip replaced in late summer of last year.
And some people complain that the GS does not have enough horsepower. I'm going to talk to him to see if we can strap him to a Dyno to see how many horsepower he puts out.
I rode to work today, and then met with several others from work and headed to a local bike shop in a neighboring county. I didn't stay at work long, but I did stay long enough to park the bike and walk inside.
Does that count?
Absolutely! You rode to work!
The average human puts out about 1/4 hp, a guy in shape can put out about 1/3 hp, most professional bicyclists pump out 1/2 a horse, I have a heard of one French bicyclist putting out 3/4 hp.
I rode today! It's only the third time I've ridden to work, but it's great! (120mi round trip)
mp183: a good bicyclist will put out around 100 - 130 watts sustained, with sprints going as high as 500w for maybe a minute. 1hp = 746w.
:thumb: I rode in!
I did! But I take it every day, yeah baby I am HARDCORE. Sorry to hear about your tank. Umm are we talking bicycles or motorbikes???
