Title: Anyone remember this bike???

I remember swapping parts with the guy that Built this thing for one of those low budget charity type races (I supplied him with fuel cap ..maybe somthing else but I recall a fuel cap he needed...)...

I can't remember his name.....(He sold this bike to someone he said.....)

I especially love the part of the decription about it bing a 1990 frame (That makes it a 1990 bike) ...and How the DMV doesn't check that stff anyway.....

HEHEHEHEHEHE

If I had come across this without your background story, I would suspect a fraud (or an idiot).

Its illegal in most states to try to sell a bike with a title that doesn't match VINs.  At best the buyer will wind up with a untitled frame/bike and a useless title...

I saw the same one a few days ago, and the first thing I thought was stolen bike pieced together.
I am actually suprised to hear that legit.

Well I wouldn't label it as "legit" ( he is saying that it's a 90 frame...just calling it a 96 and teh DMV reference is  funny and why bother giving a mismatch title...if you have to safety inspect it it's never going to get past the DMV for tags))....but it's not a stolen deal... I wish I could find the messages - the page he did on the build was pretty cool. The write up on the "race"  was neat too.

He said he sold it to someone local...So I don't think this is the exact same guy that's selling it...

if the bike was a 90. "assembled from parts" and passed the DMV inspection in 96 it would have been RETITLED as a 96 and a NEW Vin plate would be issued with a new title. i could have a model A ford from early 1900s, if i follow all the rules and its assembled from parts gathered and passes (this would include current polution controls) INSPECTION, it would be titled as a 2004 Model A. this would also make it rather Unique. but its a tough one to make happen. it would also have to wait 30 something years for horseless carriage tag too

No lights or turn signals... I doubt it would pass any DMV inspection...besides he built the thing in 2003....I'm pretty positive it was just last year.

But I know what you mean about the  Title thing..

Yeah, if you're buying something that ugly, I think the legalities are the least of your worries
