Title: Top Speed
Post by: proudlom on July 22, 2004, 02:22:28 PM
Hey Everybody,  how fast have you driven your gs500?  Everywhere I've read so far says that the top speed is around 170 km/h, but I've gotten mine up to just over 190 km/h (about 118 mph).

Subtract the average 10% "overage" on the speedometer and you get 171 kph.  But yeah, I've had my '99 up to an (indicated) 120mph ... going downhill!

I regularly hit 105(indicated) mph (to late in the night to convert to KM sorry) but I drive 30(x2) miles of interstate during my commute each day...
When I hit those speeds, I still have some more throttle to play with, I've never topped it out, simply because there is never a true 'clear' road to play on...

I can get up to about 110mph indicated before it starts getting unstable, but I rarely do.  I have always felt like I had more room to go if needed, though, particularly with the 15T front sprocket.

I don't frequently go that fast, so it's not something I test frequently
