Title: Built a Chain Scrubber
Post by: EDub on July 26, 2004, 07:26:46 PM
Being an engineering student, as well as a master in the tinkering arts i decided to build a chain scrubber out of an electrical outlet housing, a soft bristle dog brush among some other small gadgets.  And damnit, heh the thing works pretty well.  I plan on adding a valve and small resevoir onto it to drip wd40/kerosine onto the chain as it is scrubbing it, but for right now i just have to spray chain and bristles with wd.  Best thing about it, you can build it for under 10 dollars  :) .  I was wondering if you guys would like me to make up some procedures and post some pics of it so you guys can give it a shot.  Let me know what you think :thumb:

Kitchen scrub brush: $.99 at super market.

But I think I swiped mine from the kitchen when the wife wasn't looking so: $0.00.
:)

Good idea, but its been done.  Do a google search on "grungebrush" or there abouts.

I don't know... sounds interesting to me.  Those grundge brushes are ok, but you fling WD-40 and stuff all over in the process.  Sounds like your dealy is enclosed so it doesn't spater as much.   :thumb:
Hey I have white wheels... less cleaning eqauls more riding.

Mine are white too. I hate them. So I decided to let them get so dirty they look black.

EDub, did you build this as an engineering project for school, or did you just make it at home for your own enjoyment?

Well, i did the first full chain cleaning with it today, and the thing works perfect   :) .  Beats the hell out of doing it by hand hehe.  Soon as i get some pics ill get them on the board.
