Title: my rear tyre has a flat top
Post by: passive357 on July 27, 2004, 04:38:23 AM
i am in serious need of a new rear tire for my bike. i am quite certain this topic has been covered so i apologize for the redundunce. huh huh .. dunce. you ->:guns:  :( <-me   im just too damn lazy for the searching of several thousand posts plus i like the fun interaction with you wacky ass bunch of gs enthusiasts.

having said that, this rear tire is so dangerous i refuse to ride until it and the chain is replaced.  :nono: i just realized how much fun i will having roasting the old rear tire before replacing it. i will be taking pics of those no doubt.

man, am i all over the place or what. anyways. burnouts is what caused such bad tire condition in the first place. i need an exhaustive review of tires in the size 130/70-17 (stock size). do we know of a good radial for very cheap? i know radial and cheap do not mix usually. how about the best bang for your buck regular tire.

gstwin.com rocks ruff and stuff with its afro puffs.

I'm not normally one to do this but,

please use the search feature!  There's a ton of tire topics already.  GSJack has a whole document of his tire experiences.

The Metzeler 550 and Bridgestone BT45 are commonly recommended bias tires.  To get a radial you'll need to go to a non-stock size.

Chen Shen HiMax in 130/90/17.  the best bang for your buck ever.  several people have ran them on here and I am shure they will all give positive reviews.  I have one on the bike right now and I have put allmost 8000 miles on it and I am maybe a third of the way through the tread the only thing that i don't like is that I have stalled out trying to take off with a lot of luggage on her a couple of times due to the taller ratio.  although at 70 mph (indicated) I am at 5200 rpm's in 6th gear.  I can hit 45 in first if i wind her up too.  $65.00 + tax

I put on the avon 45/46 about 2 months ago, they are great.  They are expensive, but I believe they are the best tires out there.  I put stock size on the front and the 140/80 on back.  I have no idea how they well they will last, but they sure make the bike handle good, and that is what I wanted.
