Title: What Exactly Are Clip On Handlebars?
Post by: TOMIMOTO on July 28, 2004, 04:35:24 AM
Are clip on handlebars the lower ones like the GSX-R's handlebars? Anyone have any pics with an explanation for me? What is the gain in these handlebars? Thanks.

Yes "clip ons" are the ones that, well, clip or clamp onto the fork tubes instead of on top of the upper triple clamp. Look at most any sportbike and compare the handlbar and control arrangement to what is on your GS.

The clipons are to lean you further forward and puts more weight over the front tire.  Also becasue they are clamped directly to the fork tubes, you get a much better sense of feel for what the front tire is doing and how the forks are flexing.
