Title: Clutch dragging...
Post by: Caravan on July 28, 2004, 08:00:53 PM
..okay, I don't yet have a shop manual.  How can I adjust the clutch at the bars to elimanate a dragging clutch that is noticeable at start-up in gear.  Which way to turn the adjuster?   :dunno:

Thanks.

Gene

You mean how it kinda lurches forward when you crank it when cold?
Thats the cold oil sticking between the clutch plates. Its a "design feature".

If it does it even when warm, then you want to thread the adjuster out so there is less slack in the cable.

..thank you both!  It does occur when "cold".  A "design feature"...?  Sort of reminds me of the "undocumented" features brought to you by a certain US software giant.   ;)

Kerry,  thanks for the informative photos.  Now, <sigh>, if I could just remember to search first.
