Post by: zukiGS500 on August 02, 2004, 01:36:56 PM
I found some nice led taillights at superbrightleds.com. So i figured i would post a few pics for you guys & gals.

Its a perfect fit so no mods needed.

Top is the stock bulb
Bottom two are the LED bulb.

As you can see from the pic the LED bulb is not as bright, but its not so dim that it would cause any problems.

You can get the bulbs at
http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/commerce.cgi?product=CAR
Its the bulb at the top of the page. Less than $20 for two bulbs and shipping.

Are they the kind that "spin" when the brake light is on?

Cool, thanks for the pics! :thumb:

Its tough to tell in the pics but do you think the LED's are brighter than stock?  It looks like the stock bulb has more dispersion in the lense but I can't tell if its brighter

no they dont spin, but strait on i think they are a little bit brighter. The LEDS are also red, so a clear taillight might help the brightness a bit.

i'm curious.  if you replace your stock bulbs with red LEDs, or go to a clear lens where you have red bulbs, how do you get white light for your license plate?
i believe the legal requirement is that the license plate light be white.

cheers,
will

LEDs are not approved for road use in the UK (i.e. not legal).   :(

Which bulb number did you buy?
1157-W12 White LED bulb

1157-W19 White LED bulb

1157-W24 White LED bulb

So the LED bulbs are not as bright as the stock?

I tried the LEDs on my 93, but decided I liked the old bulbs better.

The old bulbs seemed much brighter.
