I'm new to riding, so I have a ways to go yet before I get a new bike (if I even do). However, I ride with several people from work who have several different types of bikes:
- Harley Ultra Classic
- Harley Sportster
- Harley Fat Boy
- Harley Low Rider
- Kawasaki Ninja 600
- Suzuki Hayabusa
- Suzuki Bandit 1200
I break these bikes into two basic types: cruiser and sport. So, what's the next logical step from the GS500? Would the Bandit be a suggestion, or maybe the VStrom? Or something from another (gasp) manufacturer?
I'm not looking to take the cruiser path, and I'm not really interested in SuperSport bikes, so I was leaning towards the VStrom.
What's everyone's opinion on the next bike, if there is one?
check out the Suzuki SV650 or the Honda 599 or the Triumph Speed 4.
I myself have contemplated this question and came up with 3 personal choices
1. Sv650S
2. honda interceptor
3. gsx750
mid level bikes but not much heavier than the gs. i'm sure the handling is a lot different due to torque and power. but this is probably down a yr from now when i can afford them ;)
This is the fun part, dreaming about what you next bike will be. There is quite a range of bikes that people on this forum have moved up too. And some are more than happy with the GS and will ride it til it dies. Right now I'm thinking I should just stay with the GS until I get out of college and start making some money, or even longer than that. I have a few ideas about what I want my next bike to be, but I know almost for sure that it will have an aluminum frame and fuel injection. My first choice right now is the Yamaha FZ6, but I'm not sure how I would like the I4. Otherwise the V-Strom and SVS look like good options with their Vtwins. Like I said, dreaming is the fun part and I will probably get to do it for a few years until I get some cash
Ducati Monster 620 or 800 would be a good step from the Baby I think. If you like the little GS that is. But I sure would love to have another Electraglide. Love the little bike and the forum.
