Title: oil pressure?
Post by: Zarathustra on August 05, 2004, 12:12:42 PM
i just finished my oil change, after getting a snapped oil filter cover bolt off, and now the oil presure light won't go out.  i've tried priming it by flicking the starter and that whole deal, but the light stays on.  would it be bad therefore for me to just start her up, and let it take care of itself, as that sensor is telling me there's no oil in the engine?  or will it be fine, and flick off after a couple seconds?  i just don't want to sieze the engine for no good reason, you know, as opposed to all those really good reasons to sieze an engine.  quick replies are appreciated, i've got first thursdays to go to tonight.

After changing the oil on my 04 the light stayed on until the bike was running for about 5 or 6 seconds.

I would let it start and actually run for a few seconds before turning it off.

I'm betting that the light will go out for ya.

The oil pressure light will only turn off after the motor is running, assuming that you have the proper oil level to start with.
