I have seen gas tank window's and these as well... Why... you'r clutch isn't really going anywhere, and you should know your bike well enough to not need a window into the tank... BTW Those cam gear window's in old ducati's had a reason... those were so un reliable for oil supply...

Hey, Srinath, on a GS a gas tank window can very well make sense. Nice big opening to get inside the tank to remove rust...
I have seen those for quite some time on TL's. Not very crash worthy though. A least the GS has the ignition to protect it.
I don't think the idea of kitch has caught on in America.... :P :lol:

I think that is pretty cool.. not in a "trick" kinda cool. But a interesting kinda cool. It would be fun to watch the clutch go round and round with oil splashing about. Kinda like those side load washing machines.

OK lets see... oil splashing around will pretty much make it look dirty and oily... wont see much clutch and well you now have introduced another spot for oil to leak from... I have enough trouble as it is keeping oil in the motor... That's not even thinking about different rates of thermal expansion of the glass/poly carb and the aluminum... This works in Duc's... cos those are dry clutrch, and the metal partial outer housing is open to take in air to let the clutch get some cooling ...

nothing wrong with modding out a box with a window, cold cathodes, and maybe a little design for them to shine through... my server/remote stereo looks pretty slick if you ask me.
Nope... If it will make it run longer, crash better, feel/handle better, etc etc I'd do it... else... nope i'm not mad... but think about it, you have to take the case cover and ignition bits off and get the hole machined and threads put in, then buy this cover and fit it on... I am thinking major work and no gain. OK if it was a pure show bike OK I'll say OK... some reason to do it. Wont it be cool to take that bike the Guy from nederlands built, put a couple of cool mods like this and some others, and walk away with #1 from a bike show. That be funny ...

These are obviously not such a big deal in the States. Over here they're found on most custom/show bikes. However, til now you could only get them for a select number of models, certainly not the GS.
In all, we're looking at
two windows on the right side casing and
one on the left.
All lit with blue LED's from inside! 8)
Perhaps, as JamesG pointed out, you're a little upset at not thinking of it first? ;)
What might be fun is something like a "cut away" engine, Since the side covers really aren't structural, except holding the generator stator and some starter pinions. I wonder if you could cast copies of the side covers in lexan or some other transparent plastic? Lexan and acrylic probably have too low a melting point but what about Pyrex glass?

I like modding my GS ???? says who... If the crap wont break and fall apart and leave me stranded 40 miles from home... I wont touch the crap, If the crap is a recurring pain like it has to be done every 1000 miles and is one total pain... like the chain and sprokets... I wont touch it with a 10 foot pole... mods only to make it useable... or easier to use or easier to fix if it breaks, or less likely to break. Only modding for making it useability. and nope... not mad at all... BTW the gas tank with a window has been out for a year+... and I didn't see the point in that either... however coolness... that would have been much higher on the cool scale. I dont mod for looks at all really... I swap out whole body pieces when one set breaks or gets dented... that's not really modding is it.

Yeah, this'll all be tried and tested first. It's only the clutch window thats gotta be totally sealed, for obvious reasons, the others aren't such a big deal.
The rest of my particular GS is covered with hidden LED's and looks great at night, emitting a cool blue glow, around the engine, under the tail and beneath the bellypan onto the road. Once these windows are fitted, it'll finish it off a treat. We're also looking at engraving the Suzuki name/logo onto the windows, which will really stand out when lit up. 8)

You're right, swapping body panels when they break isn't modding, its maintenance. Maintenance sucks! Modding is far more fun. Give it a try, you might enjoy it. And your GS might stand out the next time its in a crowd! ;)
Nope.. Mods for making better brakes, or better handling or better oil flow or ... dont actually make my list as mods. Neither is better engine life, or crash worthiness or other mods with a practical goal. I jet to make it run well in all weather, warm up so I can get to work before they close for lunch, I installed a oil pressure guage to make sure It had oil.. have a corbin.. .to make long rides less pain in the arse. I guess I do mod, but not unless there is a tangible/practical gain. I am not building a show bike... I barely have time to get the heaps of crap I have completed and down the road reliably... Bling Bling is good... i just dont want any effort going into doing it... :lol:

I got them on friday, but I didn't have a chance to put them on this weekend. I'm make sure to take pix and give a full write-up on the site when I get them on (probably the middle of this week). It was waaaay to nice outside to work on the bike--can't leave it standing still when it's 75 and sunny out!
