Title: oil cooler retrofit?
Post by: geekonabike on August 11, 2004, 12:36:03 AM
Sorry, I know this was discussed a while back, but I can't find the thread and I've been gone all summer.

I recall reading that folks thought the oil cooler on the 500F might fit on the E.  I asked at the dealer and they said no way.  So,

1.  Will it fit?
2.  Anyone tried?
3.  Is it worth it?

Sorry again if it's redundant.  Thanks.  --MMD

Not sure if this is the thread you were talking about (this one is only a week old), but it contains a link to a diagram of the external oil cooler "circuitry":how hard is it to convert a GS500 to a GS500F (http://www.gstwins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11237)[/list:u]

Thanks Kerry.  I didn't manually look back quite that far, and the search didn't find it the way I queried.  FWIW the post I was thinking about was probably back around April, as I've been overseas all summer.

Looking at that message you listed and the replies, it's still not clear if an "F" oil cooler can go on, but I did see that reference to a "kit" seen on EBay for a more generic oil cooler.  That is intriguing too.

Thanks again.  --Mike D.
