Title: Crashbars
Post by: Cal Price on August 11, 2004, 08:12:09 PM
Recently I asked advice about removing engine studs to fit crashbars, as you would expect on this forum goods advice was given particularly from Utah and Oz. Following the advice the job was a doddle and here are pix of finished article.

And thanks to Kerry for the "how to" advice and hosting pix.

I don't think the box is quite as big as it looks.  I'm betting on a bit of distortion due to the box being the closest thing to the camera.

Only, what's a "doddle"?  :?

Yes, the angle makes the box look bigger, it's only a 35 or 36 litre model and yes the plates are enormous, so big a fenderectomy is not required.
Actualy you can get the plate as a smaller one-liner of dubious legality.

I must have been having a "spelling and grammar" crisis when writing the first thread.....

Kerry, Doddle = "England" English for something easy, a breeze, a pushover, slice of gateaux, piece of cake. You get the idea.

Cal.
Authority on Estuary english as she is spoked!

By the way don't confuse "Doddle" with "Noddle" your head, your brain as in "use your noddle"

O I C.  "Noddle" seems to be counterpart of the already-archaic (!) American slang "noodle".

Er, perhaps it's the other way 'round?  ("Noddle" being, no doubt, older than "noodle" and all.)

But I think I can authoritatively say that the American "doodle" is NOT the twin sister of the UK English "doddle".  Unless you're an inveterate doodler, perhaps....

That's the same Givi box I put on my bike.  It's the E33 Point Monolock case.  Carried enough clothes for a week and only needed a 20 liter JR tankbag along with the Givi case for my trip south this year.  Doesn't look so big from the front, about the right size for the GS500.  Didn't leak a drop in the heaviest rains.
