Left (crankcase) cover... Looks like an $8 gasket from BikeBandit.com. I've searched the posts... Just wanna make sure, no gasket sealant? And I thought only Harleys leaked...

Check out Bob Broussard's post at the end of the removing crankcase cover (http://www.gstwins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9736) thread.
He describes where TO and NOT TO apply sealant.
Once again, you da man...
This is just me, I use a good quality low fibre wheelbearing grease. clean the surfaces well, no gouges, large nics, or Maring should be noticable to touch. dip your finger in the grease and give a light coat on both sides of gasket and install. Ive used this methode numerous times and many engines and i can often remove the cover/s later on(provided not YEARS later and not overheated too badly) much easyer, often the added bonus that the gasket is still intact and reuseable. I also use a factory cut gasket as a stencil to cut my own from a roll, clutch cover gasket 8$, roll of gasket paper, 5-8$ and i get 2 clutch and one stator cover out of it, or one clutch, stator, and couple of oil pan gaskets as the grease cooks from heat over time, you might see some seapage from the area, but only leaks iver really had issues with is cyl base gasket (factory) and shaft seals(factory) i use 1104 sealant on the crank cases and spray copper on the base and head gasket on engine i just assembled (untested)
Yes cant stop the blooming GS from leaking now... Oil pan gasket is the culprit... and the alternator gasket seems to be weeping oil out at the top ... :x Not going to fix that... too much work... But blooming hell the oil pan has to get fixed... I cleaned it ... I soaked the pan in gas and cleaned it with a tooth brush, I cleaned the case, with tooth brush dipped in gas, the bike was on its side... and I cleaned and torqued it... but bloody hell its leaking :x .
Cool.

since day one my poor baby's bled oil
one day is spewed oil. ruined my pants. it was a lazily installed valve cover gasket.
I've had several Harley Davidson scooters...everyone of 'em leaked oil...as they say, if there was no oil under it there was probably no oil in it. Don't get me wrong, those were the best bikes I ever owned and I miss them :( sob...unfortunately HD has raised the price so much I don't think I'll ever get to love another one. But I can love little Niccy just as much  ...and of course I love all of you in the forum too
