is that what it's called?...the black 'connector' piece?
the reason i ask is that i was told to check it by spraying WD40 near the boot and then if the rev goes up...then that means there's a leakage...am i correct?
so how should i fix this?...what parts do i need to replace?...and how hard is it??
thanks!! :thumb:
Not very hard.
If you do this test and it does indicate a leak (revs go up or down) the first thing you should do is check that the carbs are seated properly in the boots first, and or remove and replace them. Then try again.
If it still has a leak and you can't see an obvious crack or tear it could be coming from. Remove the carbs and remove the boots from the cylider head. Get some VHT (Very High Temp) RTV and smear a fairly thin layer of it on the face of the boot that goes against them motor. Replace the boots, don't forget to clean any goop that squeeses into the intake area, and after allowing it to dry, reinstall the carbs and try again.
IF it STILL leaks, then replace the boots. No sense buying parts if you don't have to.
