Yeah i was wondering how many people live in Southern California and would be interested in doing a ride some time I live in ventura.
ok, i really thought i replied to this last night. must not've hit submit.
anyway, i'm in LA (near USC) and have just purchased a 94 GS from a guy in Santa Barbara. in fact, he's supposed to deliver it this afternoon.
so, given a couple of weeks to get it insured, registered and have a new front tire put on, i'd love to go on some rides. all my riding so far has been solo.
cheers,
will

I'd be interested, but i'm in SD. Just give me a PM when/if you figure out a good ride.

santa monica, ca (west los angeles area).
I ride every friday and many sundays (less in the summer). happy to hook up and show you guys some awesome twisties - angeles crest, hwy 33/lockwood valley, malibu canyons, etc.
Uhhhh, i dont know if i have the skill to do what most other people do... but i'm willing to give it a try. I don't want to wreck, so i'll probably be going slow... assuming that we do meet up. Let me know guys!
jon
i'm with you on the going slow part, mercdude. i'm still very much the newbie and managed to crash my old bike on mulholland in february. i'm inclined to have a little fun but i'm probably taking it easy by many people's standards.
cheers,
will
Yeah i have been riding almost a year and have crashed once. Typical teenager too much confidence little skill. I crashed about 9 months ago and have gained more speed and confidence than before. Also a reality check. So if Anyone goes on rides on sat let me know. My email is Buenarunner4@hotmail.com
I'm a scared-y-cat but i'll do it! Let me know when guys. I'd love to meet up with the guru pablo.
jon
I can ride at a good speed but i cant keep up with my dad and his friends but I'll give it a try one of these weekends will go do a ride somewhere.
Sounds cool with me!!
I live out in the Inland Empire and went on a ride a couple of weeks ago with a bunch of Harley riders down to Laguna Beach by way of Cooks Corner. We then cruised up PCH. Nice easy drive, they weren't really into draggin any pegs... heck I'm not yet either, so it was a good confidence booster. It was a nice route though.
I'll be gone for a couple of weeks, but could go anytime after labor day.
we should all do angeles crest some weekend or the 33 or the malibu canyons like pablo said
I can get in on this thought i will have to put the head light back on the bike and maybe fix this damn Valve cover gasket i blew this weekend. Let me know...

I'm also in SoCal...NoHollywood. I would love to meet up with other riders. I saw a yellow gs two weeks ago on the PCH. I'm on a '97. Sept 12th as a tentative date? :thumb:

For now, I dont go any canyon to the canyon :( , but I love to mingle with you guys :) You guys just ride to Angels Crest? After that going to somewhere?? Let me know exact schedule, so I can meet you guys somewhere... !
~*Brat*~
We'll ride the 27 miles up to Newcombs Ranch restaurant to ogle the exotica parked out front and maybe eat/drink. BS will occur there...then we can continue up or head back down...
I'm in, I posted the ride i will probally do on top of angeles crest everyones welcome but its pretty long for the people coming for San diego.
I just did this ride (Angeles Crest) today for the first time. WOW, is all I can say..I didn't go all the way to the restaurant, for time sake, but I went up past Mt. Wilson. For those coming up, I live in North Hollywood, which is literally less than 15 minutes from the start of this ride. I would be ok with opening up my living room, which has two very comfy couches in it (one's a futon), if that would help any one coming up. I rode this morning at around 11ish, and there was hardly any traffic, no cops, and a fair amount of bikes. I had a smile on my face the whole way. EXCELLENT, I can't wait to go up again!
How fast were you going for the most part. when I did it i was crusin at 50-55 because i was nervous about the cops but fun anyways especially the top part.
I could ride my gs at a steady 65mph in the corners, with bursts (!?) to 75-80. But I liked it best when I kept it at 65 and never slowed down...kept the riders behind me on their toes...
That was about as fast as was comfortable on the gs. On the cbr I do 75+ in the same sections I was at 65 and I dont feel like I'm working at all to be at that speed.
I was cruisin at a pretty steady 60...couple of the hairpins that were really bumpy I slowed for, but for the most part, being able to keep it there was nice...although I've heard the cops up there are brutal..don't give an edge...I was talking to a guy at the Shell station, and he said they'll pull you over for doing 50 in a 45...NUTS :o :dunno:
JUST FOR THE RECORD:
We always ride safe. No one is ever encouraged to ride beyond thier skill level.
This is not a race to the top. I've been on several rides with Pablo and others from the board here, and I know we all feel very concerned about other riders. Making sure no one is getting over thier heads (pardon the pun).
The fast riders can enjoy the front as the slower riders can enjoy the rear. There will always be someone waiting and watching the stragglers.
One for all and all for one :thumb:

Re: Crest run on the 12th.
I am planning on going. Leaving OC around 7:45 or 8:00 AM should be good to be there by 9:00AM. It would be great if anyone else is going from the south to meet and ride up together.
Chimivee mentioned this in an earlier post. I second the motion.
Straight up the 5 fwy to ??? is best I think.
Paul
I'm leaving Ventura at about 7:30 and should be there by 9:00
I think you can take the 5 straight up to the 2 fwy (north of downtown L.A.). take the 2 north to the 210, take it east and ACH is first exit...turn right at end of offramp. shell is immediately on your left-you can see it from the end of the offramp.
Cool, thanks Pablo.
By-the-way... Anyone riding a red bike must buy anyone riding a black bike a coffee. :nana:
my bike is almost 50% black...I take my coffee the same way.
Quote from: pantablomy bike is almost 50% black...
So, it's only 50% "the fastest?"
red on all the go-fast parts, black on the rest. still the fastest color.
:nana:
I know this post is old, but if you guys are still trying to set up a ride I'd be in. I've only had my GS for about a month, but I'm game. I go to school at Pepperdine, which seems sort of central to all of you. Let me know...
I work at Culver City and I've only been riding for a month. I'm still handcuffed by my break-in period (400miles). I'll only go if the last rider is on a scooter. ;)
check the meet& greet forum for a ride this friday (slow) and a ride sunday...
