I got an email back from him, but he didn't answer my questions ("why are you selling a tank with a gas cap and no key, etc").

He hasn't emailed back... smells fishy.

I saw that too. Stolen? Why part out a new bike that has no damage?

Subject: Re: Question about your item

Dear m.e.g,

You asked:

"Hi, I'm wondering why you have these GS500F parts, was the bike in a crash? Are you parting out the rest of it? Thanks! Meg"

Purchased the parts from a friend. Ben

Thank you,
aboutben

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Suuuuuuuuure he did.... maybe by "purchase" he means "stole" and "friend" means "some guy who left his bike out".

I emailed him a few days ago,  I asked him what the vin was of the bike they came off of,    his response;

Sorry, but I can't do that because it was a lot purchased not just
parts off an individual motorcycle. I have never had a problem in the past
with the parts that I've sold on ebay.

Thanks

if it doesn't have a vin....kinda hard to prove it IS stolen.....

yall are some trusting mofo's
if a man gives you 6000 cash in a shopping bag for your bike you going to take it?

he might be a waiter and saved his tips..... not a crack dealer....think about it.....

I wonder if he has a key to the tail section. He didn't mention that.

Doesn't have the key to the tank, why would he have one for the tail?

Valid point.

What about the ones who wreck their bikes, turn them in on insurance as stolen then part them out on ebay. The bike still classified as "stolen".

I'll admit that it all sounds pretty shady.  But in light of another currently active message thread, aren't we being a bit premature in calling the guy a thief?  Has anyone been burned by him yet?  Is there NO other explanation for the facts?  Is it OK to call him a thief if he isn't a GStwin.com member?

I'm not saying I'd buy from him - I probably wouldn't.  But I think it would be an interesting exercise to compare the rhetoric from these 2 threads.

I would guess close to 25%.  I bought seats for a Ninja that I bet were stolen.  How can I prove it???  Just the reality.  But OTOH there are many legit people that buy basket cases of a bike and part out legitimately and you can get a good deal on parts.  Ebay is a crap chute.

yes you can..... right before the police put you in jail for stealing a bike...which will probably be reduced to possesion of a stolen vehicle after you tell the police who you bought the bike from.............
