Ok heres the story, I roll my bike out of my garage and set on the side stand facing the steet slightly, my driveway has a slight slant down to the street. Ive done this before with no problems, I go back into my garage and as Im coming back out to hop on the bike it is in the process of slowly falling over, :bs: , I was extremely pissed. Luckely it fell straight on the handle bars and didnt mess up the rear plastic or the side case, my handle bars are bent to hell though and the bar end screw broke. Talk about a stupid mistake, atleast it wont be that hard to fix. :dunno:
Ha ha... BUt I actually rejected houses based on...
1. Driveway not long enough
2. Driveway Too steep
3. Driveway is down hill to the garage...
I do 90% of bike work on the driveway... so it has to be perfect...

I have to be pretty carefull in my driveway, it's kinda steep. so i usually only park the bike in the garage, or if i'm just running in and out again, i leave it at the base of the driveway, where it's basically flat.
Sucks you dropped it, but at least it was at home, and not at places others have. (gas station-kerry :oops: ) and I think I've read a few other posts of standing drops away from home

I tried putting mine on the centrestand on not-quite-level ground one day (because I didn't want it to roll off the kickstand...good plan :roll: ). Of course, the surface was tilted slightly AWAY from me which I didn't realize. Sure enough, as it went up, it started going over and I couldn't stop it.
All this in front of the ground-level patio of a cafe full of people. :oops: :oops:
Just be thankful you did it where you wouldn't be too visible. :)
Yea JohnNs Ive done the center stand thing too, only I was able to gently lay it on some wood that was laying next to it in the shop. I was luckey that it was at night and not alot of people were around, I do think that my neighbor heard me cussing up a storm but oh well. I got the handle bars bent back straight in the vice tonight so all I need to do now is fix the bar ends, I got extremely luckey I didnt do more damage.

You are lucky that you can be that picky! In Sheffield there are too many hills - but I managed to buy a house with a flat driveway round the back - very fortunate seeing as the house boom was just starting 3 years ago that I wasn't outbid!
There are some suggestions about how to park bikes on sidestands - I am paraniod about mine not falling over!
as a precaution to rolloff's syndrome, i tend to leave the bike ingear on any grading. Ive even been known to park sideways on slant.
I too am guilty of this one, about a year ago I resurfaced the front of my place and it has a gentle slope toward the street. Not very big about two car spaces. The resurfacing changed the old familiar camber slightle and within day I had dropped it. Previously I used to park facing the slope and I carried on doing so but with a bit more space decided I need not run her out backwards and turned her, thats when I dropped it, full lock, gentle slope and astern don't mix. I now park "across" the slope with side stand on the down side which gives it a good lean but has been remarkably stable. If I need to use the centre stand I face her up the slope and turn it around by driving the "U" or three-point rather than the backward trick.
Expensive lesson! first one cost me a brake lever, engine cover and emblem.
last night, for the first time, 3 parts of my bike were touching the ground, not counting a stand. but it was 2 tires and my right foot peg. i'm a pretty big guy, so i caught it just as the side stand touched. got lucky tho. i was bein cocky pullin into my garage at like mach 1.5.
