Title: Bottoming out?
Post by: shiplemw on August 19, 2004, 02:07:26 PM
Quick question here.  I had two experiences that I want to relate and get some advice on.  I was going over a railroad track at about 10 mph and thought I was on the smoother part but I hit one of the ties and it sounded / felt like the front fork bottomed out.  Not too much farther ahead I turned down an alley I had never been down before and as I was coming upto an intersection it looked like it was just going to be a small dip but it ended up being a fairly large pot hole.  I felt the same thing, felt like the front fork bottomed out.  I've read that this is a pretty common phenomenon so is this bad or what?

Very common on stock fork springs without spacers.
I would suggest getting new springs, or reading the article on how to make your own spacers.
That should help
