Title: oil leak!

my bike is leaking oil through the shifter i think!

can i reseal it?

or do i have to buy something?

Are you sure that the stuff leaking out is motor oil?  Could you be having the "excess chain lube" problem instead?

umm is there a big difference in smell??

smells like oil to me

feels like it to

not possitive

i cleaned it off.... keeps on coming back!

what do u think?

if it is oil          how do i fix it

and if it isnt ( will it stop?)

If it's spray-on chain lube it will stop dripping when the bike cools off and then start again when the bike is warm.  It will do this until you clean all the gunk out from behind the sprocket cover (as described in that thread I linked to above).

If it's motor oil, I'm not sure what "drip pattern" it will exhibit, but I seem to remember Bob Broussard or one of the other racers commenting on how to replace that oil seal.  :dunno:
