Title: Tiny seat tear
Post by: Jeff P on August 23, 2004, 07:17:12 AM
Hey guys.  I put a tiny tear on the seat yesterday while climbing off (something on my boot snagged it).  It's almost more like a puncture.  Anybody have a favorite product for patching it up?

I know you can go down to your local Auto store and get a vinyl repair get for under 10 bucks. Other than that I am not sure. I have the same problem on my seat, just a small slit like it was cut but just been too lazy to repair it.

I used the auto store "vinyl repair" compound, on a tear that was on the seat when I bought it.  I didn't expect much of it, and it lived up to it's expectations.  Major goal was to have something sorta flexible that would seal the tear, and keep the foam seat from filling up with water if it rained while the bike was outside my work.

Maybe I applied too much, maybe it was because of the size of the tear (about dime-size), or maybe it just never looks the same.  :dunno:   But it ain't beautiful.

But it does work, and seems to be holding up fine.
