Title: Lazy me hasnt fixed the GS yet. Wanna help?
Post by: TheGoodGuy on August 24, 2004, 02:49:00 AM
As it stands.. I havent fixed the bloody fork seals. 3 months and still no fixie.. well in my defense i was busy, far busier than i thought i would be.

Anycase, i took one fork cap off and that thing flew out and hit mom's car, setting the alarm off and me having to go up and get the keys to disable it. Thank god no damage from the path of the fork end cap. I had it on the side stand and noticed that the spring was now above the fork cap level. I remember when i put the progressive springs in, they were clearly below the fork cap level. Well being busy i didnt even get a chance to play with it, i cleaned up teh mess and decided to look at it later, that after i found all the parts for it.

4 weeks later i still hadnt figured out how to put back the fork endcap. Guess i never paid attention, i covered the hole with a paper towel and left it like that when i last touched it. Finally it dawned on me.... when i instlaled teh progressive springs I had it on teh center stand. Without a handlebar i couldtn get it to teh center stand by mseylf. A bit of help and some pushing and moaning I had it on the center stand. Sure enough the bloody fork spring drops to the lower level. Something to do with it being on the side stand. This was the right side fork too, wonder why it stood up so much on the side stand.. didnt make any sense.

Anyway since it dropped back down I put back the paper towel in its place and didnt even close it up. NO time to do that too. I should be doing that rather than typing all this, but i guess im lazy or just too damn tired. I will put some more 15Wt oil and close her up tommorow if i get a chance. That way i can ride it atleast a bit.

Here is teh deal though.. i am going back up north end of the week for schoool. The GS stays in LA for the while. So if anyone wants a GS500 to ride (abet fully insured under your name and a legal document that shows that the bike is your responsiblty if something happens). All you got to do is insure the bike under your name, its already insured under mine and your set to go. Atleast the bike will get some use. However you would have to help me fix the fork seals or whatever. If you want to use my bike, its fine with me. Let me just get my title back from the DMV. GE Cap Finance f%&ked up and i didnt get my title for 6 months. In the mean time GE sold that account to someone else and i didnt know about it. Finally Suzuki of Van Nuys was able to track down my old account and get me in touch with the new card company. I just dropped off the request for duplicate title today at AAA.

I doubt how much riding i will get done .. i will come to LA periodically not sure even if it gets fixed if i will have time to ride. So someone using it would be nice. Pablo you wanna still have a GS to ride?

Part of the problem for me not riding that my friend crashed really badly in Sacramento. He was the guy 2 doors down to where i lived. I told him that he wasnt ready to ride that advanced and crashed on teh way to tahoe ( i posted about it here ). Apart from that I saw 2 ppl crash really badly in front of me. That and the fact that i nearly took out a biker when changing lanes. Bloody guy was completely in my blind spot. I couldnt see him in my mirrors or turing around to the right. It was only when i was changing lanes when i noticed him. He wasnt even looking at me properly.

Anyway so anycase I am leaving this saturday. I will be back labor day weekend. If anyone wanna give me a hand or something i would be mucho gracias.

I will try doing this myself, but only if I got time. At the rate I am going this seems like far from reality of getting done. I have 3 weeks of laundry  to do (thank god for 4 weeks of clothes) and Vanessa is getting her hand operated on tommorow. She cut her hand while trying to slice a bagel with a non - bread knife. Cut her hand up really bad, got stitches and all. Now she cant feel stuff right. So they are going back in tommorow for nerve reconstruction surgury. Guess I can kiss tuesday goodbye. That leaves me 3 days to fix the bike. If I fix it atleast someone can ride it. My brother or even me when i get down.

Oh well goodnite folks..

And oh yeah I am back.. though i am yet to catch up on like 30+ pages of older posts.
