Title: Anyone ever straight pipe their exhaust or run no muffler?
Post by: ritninja on August 25, 2004, 06:08:42 PM
Just wondering what this would do?  All the choppers and that style run with no exhaust canister right?  Or is it built into the pipe?  I am not trying to start an arguement about turning gs500 into chopper bike and whatnot.  I am just interested in a new exhaust for my 90 gs 500 E.  I think a custom exhaust with no cans out each side would be nice.  Just curious as to what that would do to the valves?  Noise?  Pollution?  etc...  Any advice - go ahead...

I ran cut pipes on a CCC ride of a little over 7000 miles, no valve problems what so ever. it sounds like a v-twin up to about 5 on the tack and from there it just sounds like a lawn mower on crack.

jetting acn be - interesting would be one way to describe it.  The power curve can get pretty wierd as well with a well defined torque peak and nothing below or above -

wayyyyy to loud for me......and the jetting will get messed up......the bike will not pull hard after about 8000 rpm because it will be running lean.....if you richen the mixture it will run better but still not better than with a nice aftermarket exhaust
